As all of the readers of my blog knows, I had a deathly experience with Lisinopril. The side effects were almost deadly.
I decided right then and there to take control of my on health and I researched ways to decrease the blood pressure naturally.
1. Eat plenty of raw garlic
2. Eat plenty of raw celery
3. Get plenty of exercise outside and enjoy the sunshine
4. Get adequate amounts of magnesium and potaasium.
See this blog for other health information.

(NaturalNews) Nature is all about balance. The human body, being naturally created, reflects this principle in every small aspect as well as in its main orchestration, the constant search for homeostasis. Yet mainstream doctors tend to overlook the primal theme of balance. They like to view each body part or system in isolation. They don’t hear the symphony because they have chosen to examine only one note of the music. This approach produces some strange conclusions, one of which is that sodium is the culprit in hypertension, diabetes and heart disease.
The sodium-potassium connection
Sodium and potassium are essential dietary minerals and electrolytes, meaning that they dissociate into ions (charged particles) in solution, making them capable of conducting electricity. Normal body functioning depends on the right regulation of sodium and potassium both inside and outside of cells.
Sodium is the principal ion in the fluid outside of cells, while potassium is the principal ion in the fluid inside of cells. Sodium concentrations are more than ten times lower inside than outside cells, and potassium concentrations are about 30 times higher inside than outside cells. The concentration differences between potassium and sodium across cell membranes create an electrochemical gradient known as the membrane potential. A large portion of energy in the body is dedicated to maintaining sodium/potassium concentration gradients, underscoring the importance of the balance between sodium and potassium in sustaining life. Tight control of cell membrane potential is critical for heart function, as well as nerve impulse transmission and muscle contraction.

I have lost 50lbs in 2 months on a low carb eating plan. Now before you get excited let me explain…
I had started to lose weight about two weeks before my Lsinopril scare. During my Lisinopril scare I had no appetite and was bedridden for 5 days and I lost tons of weight. Lisinopril also made me gain tons of weight I believe, so logic would have it that if I stopped taking the medication, I would lose the weight.
I came home on Labetalol, HCTZ and Norvasc. All of these meds come with unbeleivable side effects. How did the FDA ever approve these drugs. I am having muscle aches, joint pains and palpitations that coincide with taking these meds. I am on another health board that has some people that are slaves to their drugs. One told me if I ate healthier I would feel better. I explained that if I had to choose between those meds and weight loss, I would choose weight loss every time.
And of course the weight loss has slowed down tremendously as I expected it too. I am still about 75 lbs overweight, so I am not starving.
I am a little depressed as these meds have me so tired and I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.

You see, I suffered for 15 years with insulin resistance and didn’t know what it was. I would gain 30lbs in one month.
At 41, the deadly effects of this disease caught up with my body and by then my kidneys and heart had taken a hit. My bp was 200/115. My creatinine was 1.6 and my heart EF was 45%. Thankfully I had no outward symptoms of heart failure yet. I was admitted to the hospital. I read and read and read and found out about the carb connection. I was a carb addict eating over 200gms of simple carbs per day.
This was on June 25th, when I made this life saving change. I dont count calories, but I count carbs. I started this journey at 300lbs and I am at 240lbs now in 2 months. People look at me and swear I have had bypass. I am not hungry and my taste buds have actually changed. My skin has cleared up. My kidney dysfunction has been reversed, and is now normal.
I was started on an ace inhibitor and developed life threatening angioedema.
My doctor then against my wishes put me on Cozaar, which is an ARB. I had read that most people that was allergic to ACE1 was allergic to ARB’s.
Well after 3 hours of taking the ARB, I broke out in hives and stopped urinating. I immediately stopped and told the doctor I will not take any more.
He wants me to take Coreg now and I have an appt with him on Wednesday.
Right now I take hctz 25mg and Labetalol 100mg BID, my blood pressure this morning before meds was 135/85. I have slowly weaned off these meds-yes without my doctors knowledge. I added other things to my health regimen and I have decided to take control of my own health care. I now believe the body is a perfect machine and when given what it needs, it will take care of the rest. I am more than ever motivated to get my health in order and get off meds totally.
Since this incident I have logged over 500 hours of research and reading.
Also can you believe on the front of Cozaar’s website it says not to describe the med to people like me? I will complement doctors knowledge with my own, not let their knowledge be the guiding force.

I feel a little better today from the Lisinopril side effects. I now have the beta blocker fatigue.
I have been in bed al day today. I ate fish for lunch. By the way did I tell yall I was doing Atkins and I have lost 50 lbs? Hopefully with these lifestyle changes I can get myself together for me and my 5 year old baby.
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Please go to this web site and check out how people are suffering on Lisinopril.

It is just amazing how many people are suffering.
You know I am a nurse and this experience has been so life changing for me. I will definitely listen to my patients better and when they say they are being compliant, I will believe them.
Today I have mild palpitations and leg fatigue and cough. I want off all of these medications.

Today is bad… I am depressed, tired, muscles are aching and burning.. all of those lousy Lisinopril symptoms.
I continue to lose weight and detox… maybe I am loosing too fast and dumping this poison in my system.
I have been in bed all day long. My husband and daughter are very frustrated.
I have had palpitations… even though I have had a echo, stress test and cardiac cath, those PVCS scare
theheck out of me and I cant function. I have almost lost my appetite also. I ate once today and I dont feel
like eating anything else.
I continue to seach and search as much as I can about this drug.

I am at work right now and we have a patient that was found on the floor by her son. The son called 911 and when they arrived, the patient was in asystole. CPR was initiated and it took 20 minutes to resuscitate the patient.
The patient is here in the ICU with no brain function now. The most significant thing is that she arrived with a very swollen tongue. My antennas immediately went up. Of course the doctors all focused on the fact that she was obese with asthma. My thought was just because you are obese with asthma doesnt mean that you should have to drop dead.
None of the doctors are associating this event with Lisinopril… I have a slight cough today with the lump. but it is getting better. I took zinc last night and I dont have as much muscle fatigue and spasms today.
I am eating eggs only for breakfast. I am really doing well with my new lifestyle changes.
Sigh… another day in the ICU.

I have been on Lisionopril now for about 5 years at 40 mg/day. During those five years I have been fatigued, suffered with GERD, dry cough. Of course my doc said to lose weight. Last month I went on a diet and all hell broke loose. I lost 25 lbs and I don’t know if the weight loss released all of those Lisionopril toxins or what but here goes: Fatique, weakness, arm and leg muscle pain, absolutely no sex drive, rib cage pain, back pain, perceived shortness of breath. Heart palpitations, dry cough with mucus. I have a lump in my throat. It got so bad I went to the ER , they drew labs and my BP was elevated. They added labetalol to the lisinopril. I came across this site and I called my doctor and I told him that I wasn’t taking lisinopril anymore. I feel as if I am having a slow death. I cant function, I cant work, I am panicky and nervous. He said to monitor my pressure with 2x/day with the Labetalol. I was on the maximum dose and I wonder how long will it take for this poison to leave my body. I can’t believe what this medicine is made from. I am more than willing to lose weight and do anything to stop taking these poisons. I would love to hear your experiences. I need all the support that I can get. I just don’t understand the sudden exacerbation of all of the symptoms unless it is the weight loss. But my BP never went down even with the weight loss.

I decided to start this blog as a healing catharsis for me. I needed to let others know what to look for in this drug and to take responsibility for your own health and not to depend on doctors or anyone else to be responsible for your healthcare.
You see, I knew better that is why I am so angry with myself. I am a Nurse for God’s sake. I took this drug for 5 years and although I had some side effects such as severe fatigue and palpitations, I tolerated them.
This blog will highlight my horrors with this drug and my quest to get better.
Please follow me on my journey.
